DONALD SCOTT THOMAS, III
Scott Thomas has practiced family law in Austin/Dallas, Texas since 2004. Scott has focused his practice largely on Divorce, but has achieved excellent results for his clients in other areas of family law, including Custody Modification and Enforcement, Child Support Modification and Enforcement (private and Attorney General suits), Grandparent Intervention, Child Protective Services/Involuntary Termination of Parental Rights, Protective Orders, Child Adoption, and Appeal. Scott has garnered tremendous loyalty among his current and former clients for his approach to resolving family disputes. Scott aggressively seeks to ensure that his clients obtain the best results possible under the circumstances, while at the same time not losing sight of what is often most important to the client, resolving their disputes advantageously with as little unnecessary psychological toll, financial expense, and disruption among family members, namely children, as possible.
A third generation lawyer, Scott lives to be in the courtroom and has actively sought to encourage and instruct trial and appellate advocacy among law school students. Scott served as a judge in the 2006 Phillip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition, Southwest Regional at the University of Texas School of Law and as a judge in the 2007 University of Texas School of Law Spring Intramural Mock Trial Competition Quarterfinals.
Scott Thomas attended Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 2004. Scott returned to his native Austin, Texas and started his own law practice the following Fall, where he practiced family and criminal law until joining YANEZ | McGEE | KUHNER, P.C. in 2007. During law school, Scott served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Federico G. Hinojosa, Justice of the 13th Court of Appeals of Texas –Corpus Christi (Edinberg), as a law clerk at the Austin law firm of Minton, Burton, Foster & Collins, P.C., as a law clerk at the Dallas law firm of Fitzpatrick& Hagood, P.C. and for Robert R.
